Weather: Brrrrr....

Hi all again. Just posting the second part of our Day 13. After taking some pics of the night lights and tv tower in Odori Park we headed down to Susukino which is considered the entertainment district in Sapporo city. It's filled with pachinko parlours, bars, clubs (think host and hostess clubs) and lots of eateries and restaurants.
As I mentioned previously, the Snow Festival (Yuki Matsuri) in Susukino is predominantly ice sculptures. We'd been seeing them hard at work building and carving the sculptures at least a week before the festival started. The sculptures are situated along the middle of Susukino's main street so at night during the festival the streets were closed to vehicles and allowed tourists to walk around and admire the sculptures.

Amy thought we should at least take a few pictures of some of the ice sculptures that were up for display that night. Enjoy!
A Japanese crane sculpture in the foreground with an ice fridge stocked with alcohol in the background. I'm not sure what the connection is...:)
A frozen fish aquarium. Can you see the fishes in the ice? The sign in front asks "Are these fish real?"
A magnificent eagle sculpture in the background. In the foreground is a love heart with cupids on each side of it. The sign says "Love from Pachinko" hahah...
This sculpture is called "White target". Why? Can you see the poor small rabbit the eagle is preying on?
This was a sculpture of marine animals like the whale and dolphin. What is interesting is that it is sponsored by Greenpeace. The sculpture is called "Tomorrow's Seas. Defending our ocean".
"Car of the Year"
There were many more sculptures on display, but that was all the pictures we took unfortunately! Below are a couple of pictures that Amy JUST had to take. It's one of the many male host clubs in Susukino.
